Because everything fattening is good…

…and if it’s fried to order it’s even better. This is how all the fritters such as alcapurrias, arepas, pastelillos and piononos are made in the Kiosko La Comay.
On your way to Piñones (fritter and alcohol heaven) you will find dozens of kiosks selling these marvelous things that I love called alcapurrias, but don’t buy them! If they are inside a glass case, it means it’s not fresh.

This kiosk is located farther down the road, across from the beach and they are only open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Everything here is fried to order, so yes, you will have to wait a bit, but I promise you it will be worth it!

They make the best beef alcapurrias I have ever tried, they are my favorite. Made to order, the cook takes a spoonful of the green banana mixture and slaps it on a banana tree leaf. She flattens it and proceeds to put in the filling. You can choose from delicious minced beef, savory crab meat in a Creole sauce, conch, shrimp, cod fish or stewed chicken.

The piononos are also prepared with the same fillings as the alcapurrias only that these are surrounded by a blanket of sweet plantains and then fried… I also love these! Same goes for the arepas, pastelillos and tostones.

If you like fresh crab meat get there before 4pm or you won’t be able to try the crab rice with beans, crab salmorejo and avocado (they run out fast, specially on Sundays). The crab rice was the reason why I visited this kiosk in the first place two years ago and I am proud to say that I have been a faithful customer ever since.

The food is made fresh and with care. The employees are nice and won’t judge you by the list of things you order.

A water-coconut is the best dessert they have and if the mosquitoes try to bite you, they will give you ‘OFF’ free of charge.
