The Infamous Hot Dog

It’s a million times better than the ones you get at a gas station, at least here in PR. It’s also commonly found in corners nearby government offices, prices are ridiculously affordable and one is never enough.

The street car hot dogs, I love them.

A questionable ‘meat’ product that floats in cloudy warm water for hours. Once it’s ordered it will rest between a bun that sometimes it’s steamed and sometimes it’s not.

This bun will be the carrier of the mother load. It will include two tablespoons of some soupy- minced beef (not chili), onions, sauerkraut, two or more lines of ketchup, mustard and some sort of yellow cheese and my favorite topping, potato sticks.

Not everyone makes them the same way but I will share with you my favorite three.

Number one on my list has the best tasting minced meat and it’s located at the corner in front of the main gate in Fort Buchanan, Guaynabo.

Second on my list even has a Facebook page, they use here mayo-ketchup on the bottom! It’s located in the parking lot of a gas station close by the CESCO in Bayamón.

And the third on my list is between the Centro de Recaudación de Impuestos Municipales (CRIM) and the Social Security Office (SSA) in Mayagüez.
