I wanted to be a chef, but I would rather be eating; so, I became a food critic (writer).
My culinary experiences began while selling ice cream in Alaska, coinciding with the premiere of Disney’s movie Ratatouille, in which I fell in love with Anton Ego’s job. I could also taste every description that the late chef Anthony Bourdain wrote in his books and described in his show No Reservations. So, one day I said, ‘I WANT TO BE A FOOD CRITIC!’ That was my ‘aha moment.’ Although I was living in Ely, a small town in England, life took me back to Puerto Rico where I finished undergraduate school.
I became a voracious food writer that holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a major in Journalism that led to my gastronomical career being featured in many publications, including El Nuevo Día, La Mafia Puerto Rico, and the Get Up and Go! Magazine.
I have fine-tuned my skills by dedicating every opportunity to work with culinary texts during my Master’s degree in Translation, where I rendered the Puerto Rican cookbook, El burén de Lula cocina artesanal, into English as The Burén at Lula’s Artisanal Kitchen (read about this effort [here]).
I am also the Project Manager and Producer of a 10-episode gastronomic documentary series titled Nueva Cocina Puertorriqueña, where Para la Naturaleza highlights and educates on the importance of consuming local catch and agro-ecologically farmed products.
I am a food connoisseur, writer, and translator.
