Hundreds of ink lovers went this weekend (Oct 10-13) to the Paradise Island Ink Fest (PIIF) at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Isla Verde, PR. From Argentina to California, everyone was representing their art culture and showing off the best they can do.
“I always do conventions, it puts me out of my comfort zone”, said Kristi Walls, a young Pennsylvanian tattoo artist representing East Side Ink in NYC.
She was always drawing as a kid and wanted to become a tattoo artist even though she didn’t know what that meant at the time. Walls spent two years as an apprentice and has been tattooing for five. “I can’t believe what I do” said the artist while tattooing a Quill and an ink jar with a fork.
Beers, ink and music kept everyone enjoying their night at the convention. A few smoke breaks and a couple of chats with other tattoo artists shed some light on the personalities that these peeps have besides what you can see in ‘Miami’, ‘NY’ or ‘LA Ink’.
